Product details
PointID® enables the authority to capture photographs, fingerprints and signatures on site. Staff then transfer them into the document application.
Not only is the application process designed to promote security, it is also more citizen-friendly, as applicants can have their photograph taken and apply for the document in one appointment. If the photograph produced for the applicant by a private-sector service provider is not accepted by the authority, the application process does not need to be cancelled; a new photograph can be taken immediately.
The PointID® capture system is modular and requires no backdrop, so it can be deployed in line with on-site needs. This ensures that the recording process, combined with intuitive user guidance, saves time and can be carried out at the same location.
With the enactment of the Act to Strengthen Security in Passport, Identity Card and Alien Documents, only digitally available biometric photographs will be used for the new official documents starting from May 2025.

PointID® is made available to passport and identity card authorities as well as to immigration authorities at no cost on a loan-for-use basis. - Modular design:

Capture can be performed as self-service by the applicant (via the capture system) or as assisted capture by authority staff (via the PC used to process the document application). - Service & support:

Yes. Every municipality can receive a system.
If a local authority with fewer than 300 applications per year believes there is a need, it can report this with a justification. Where appropriate with involvement of the oberste Landesbehörde (highest authority at federal state level), the notification will then be assessed.
PointID® is free of charge for public authorities. They are used in the same way as fingerprint scanners or V-change terminals. The municipality’s contracts with its respective IT process developers will remain unaffected by this.
