New Management Board of Bundesdruckerei GmbH

Berlin, 17 November 2025 – Bundesdruckerei GmbH will have a new Management Board, as decided by the Supervisory Board at an extraordinary meeting in mid-November: it will consist of Christian Helfrich, the Chair of the Management Board, as well as Frederik Blachetta and Dr Claudia Thamm. 

Responsibilities Reallocated 

Effective 1 January 2026, the long-standing Chief Financial Officer, Christian Helfrich, will become Chair of the Management Board of Bundesdruckerei GmbH. He will take over from Dr Stefan Hofschen (58), who will leave the Group at the end of the year upon expiry of his contract to pursue a new professional opportunity. In addition to serving as Chair of the Management Board, Helfrich will continue as Chief Financial Officer. His responsibilities will also include the banknote business and production operations. 

In addition, Frederik Blachetta will be appointed to the Management Board with effect from 16 February 2026. He will oversee technology and product development (including the Group subsidiary Maurer Electronics GmbH), data, artificial intelligence and innovation. At the same time, he will be responsible for the public-sector digitalisation business. Blachetta knows the public sector from both the provider and client perspectives and brings deep expertise in designing and implementing technical solutions for government. He currently serves as Partner and Global Public Sector Data & AI Leader at PwC. 

Dr Claudia Thamm will also be appointed to the Management Board – she will assume the newly created position of Chief Sales Officer (CSO), effective 1 January 2026. In addition to leading Sales, she will be responsible for the identity documents and systems business (passports, identity cards, driving licences). She will also take on the role of Labour Director and be responsible for Human Resources. Thamm has held various leadership positions within Bundesdruckerei for many years and, most recently, as Head of Key Account Management & Business Development, managed customer relationships across the Group.
